More than just chainsaws - Some people might view the inclusion of a chainsaw as a gimmick. They might be right, but Jackyl managed to do it masterfully whether they were in the studio or up on stage, as if it were just another instrument in their arsenal.There isn t a bad song on here, although the last song, cut from the clean version, could be seen as the weakest link. Still, there s nothing like hearing a crowd chant along as the song is played live.If I remember correctly, Jackyl s debut was one of the first albums to incorporate the Parental Advisory warning into the artwork itself, rather than a sticker that was placed on either the jewel case or the front cover of the booklet.Many bands struggle to outdo their debut, and Jackyl is no exception. That s not to say that the other albums aren t good, but this album is one of those that can stand alone. Mixing southern rock with metal and a bit of gasoline, Jackyl is an album worthy of most anyone s music collection.

GREAT Rock Album - They will never live up to this first album. The other albums, by Jackyl, while good strong hard-hitting, guitar (and chainsaw) ROCK, can t match this one. Wow! What an album!
Jackyl s best album.Redneck rock!! - The best way to describe Jackyl s sound is that is has the redneck sensibilities of Lynyrd Skynyrd along with the hard rock sounds of AC/DC.Great album all around.The video toI Stand Alone just plain rocks with the flatbed trailer gig in the KMart parking lot.The first half is fantastic.It has all the band s best known hits.I thought Dirty Little Mind was the best song on here.In 1992,Jackyl was one of just a handful of bands still making this type of rock amongst the grunge rock revolution that was going on.The second half of the album is a bit bland in some spots,but still an album worth owning.A must have for any hard rock/metal collection.
one of my all-time favorites - First time I heard the band, I was searching for I Stand Alone by Disturbed and me not paying attention, ended up with the Jackyl version. Needless to say it BLEW MY MIND. I was hooked. I got my hands on the album and was hooked from every track. Dirty Little Mind, Redneck Punk, Lumberjack, When Will It Rain (my favorite song on the cd), Brain Drain, and Reach For Me are my personal favorites on the album. Overall it s a great buy either way and well worth it esp if you re into hard rock.
